Because skin lesions come in so many shapes and sizes, you should have any area of abnormal or irregular skin evaluated by a dermatologist. Dr. Llewellyn can diagnose and treat benign skin lesions (if desired) as well as malignant skin lesions.
Aloe Dermatology offers a full range of services for skin lesions and other skin conditions. Start by scheduling a consultation with Dr. Llewellyn so he can determine the nature of your skin lesion. After making his diagnosis, he will recommend treatments, and we can provide you with a cost of care. Our payment options are cash and major credit cards, and you can find more information on our financing page.
Many skin lesions are harmless, but some may indicate more serious medical conditions. Dr. Llewellyn can diagnose your skin lesion and inform you whether or not treatment is necessary. Treatment of malignant skin lesions (skin cancer) could prevent growth and spread of the skin cancer and save your life. Treatment of benign lesions that are tender, irritated or cosmetically unappealing may improve your quality of life.
If you have an unusual skin lesion, abnormal growth or discoloration on your skin, you should have the area evaluated by Dr. Llewellyn. As a dermatologist, he has the expertise to diagnosis your skin lesion and determine if medical intervention is needed.
Skin lesion removal is performed in our office. Dr. Llewellyn uses several advanced techniques to remove skin lesions. The type of procedure performed would vary depending on the type of lesion that is being removed. Some of the procedures performed include:
Dr. Llewellyn may do a biopsy of the lesion and send it to a laboratory to confirm the diagnosis prior to performing and excision or mohs surgery. This involves taking a small sample of tissue from the lesion after the area has been locally anesthetized. If a skin cancer, such as melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell carcinoma is diagnosed, then a surgery would be scheduled to fully remove the cancer. Actinic keratosis (pre-cancers) may be removed with freezing (cryosurgery) or other modalities.
Skin lesions will eventually develop on everyone and knowing what type of lesion you have is important.
