About Dr. Keith Llewellyn
Dr.
Llewellyn (pronounced “lou-well-en”) is board certified by the
American Board of Dermatology. He has been practicing in Santa Barbara since
2003. He moved to Santa Barbara from Washington, DC where he completed his
dermatology residency and served as chief resident at The George Washington
University. His training also included clinical rotations and grand rounds
at the National Institutes of Health and National Children’s
Hospital.
In addition to general and pediatric dermatology, he also developed
expertise in dermasurgery, Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology while working
at The George Washington Cosmetic and Laser Surgery Center. At The George Washington
University, he had the privilege to work with Raymond Barnhill MD, an internationally
recognized expert in melanoma. Along with the clinical experience he acquired
in treating melanoma and moles, Dr. Llewellyn published an article and a textbook
chapter on the subject.
Prior to his dermatology residency, Dr. Llewellyn completed two years
as an internal medicine resident at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati,
Ohio. He graduated with honors (Alpha Omega Alpha) from the University
of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1998. He attended college at Miami
University (Ohio) and graduated with honors (cum laude) in 1994.
Dr. Llewellyn is an active member of numerous professional societies.
These include the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for
Dermatologic Surgery, American Society for Mohs Surgery, California Medical
Association, Tri-County Dermatology Society and Santa Barbara County Medical
Society.
On a personal note, Dr. Llewellyn grew up all over the country. He called
twelve different places home (nine states and one US territory: Guam).
He chose to move to Santa Barbara because it seemed like the perfect place
to be a “small town doc”, settle down, raise a family and pursue
his passions. He enjoys hiking, biking, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking,
sailing, running, camping and just about anything else outdoors (with sunscreen
and a wide brimmed hat of course!). He has a lovely wife and two beautiful
little girls.
